Unlike some other brands, when it comes to wasteful packaging, Coca-Cola has flown under the radar mostly.

But that doesn’t mean the company has never been called out for its reliance on plastic.

Though the beverage company has sustainable efforts in place, Greenpeace Africa Lead Hellen Kahaso Dena has recently called them into question.

“If Coca-Cola is really serious about solving the plastic and climate crisis, it needs to stop its greenwashing, cap its plastic production, and invest in refill and reuse. Ending Coca-Cola’s addiction to single-use plastic is an important step in moving away from fossil fuels, protecting communities in Africa, and combating the climate crisis,” she said in a June post on the Greenpeace website .
