U.S. News & World Report has released its 2026 list of the best hospitals for maternity and perinatal care.

The company recognized 27 New Jersey hospitals as “high performing” in uncomplicated pregnancies.

A total of 901 hospitals were evaluated by U.S. News based on C-section rates, newborn severe complication rates, episiotomy rates, best practices to support breastfeeding, whether a hospital meets federal criteria for “birthing-friendly” practices, and whether a hospital tracked and reported disparities in outcomes.

Based on this data, 495 hospitals were identified as high performing. Only hospitals deemed high performing received a rating.

Other hospitals that participated in the survey have a scorecard describing their performance on individual metrics but no rating is displayed.
