A tractor-trailer and a motorcycle collided in Northeast Portland Thursday morning, sending the motorcyclist to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Portland Police Bureau said .

The crash happened at a little after 6 a.m. on Northeast Airport Way at the I-205 interchange, police said. The driver of the tractor-trailer, or semi-truck, “remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.”

The Portland police’s Major Crash Team is at the scene. During the initial phase of the investigation, Northeast Airport Way is closed in both directions under the freeway overpass, officials said. The I-205 ramps remain open.

The motorcyclist’s name has not been released.
