A familiar face to Portlanders is giving his two-week notice.
After nearly 20 years at KGW, morning anchor Drew Carney is moving to Colorado.
“I haven’t been keeping it a secret,” Carney wrote in a social media post Thursday morning , “but I also haven’t been very vocal about it … this is my last month at KGW-TV."
Carney, an anchor on “KGW News at Sunrise,” joined the Portland NBC affiliate in 2006. Before moving to Portland in 2000, Carney worked as an anchor and reporter in Pennsylvania and Texas.
“I didn’t think I’d be typing those words when 2025 began,” he wrote in his post. “Too many good memories to count. So many great people to thank.”
The week of Christmas will be his last on TV in Portland.
After that, Carney said, he’s headed to 9News in Denver, a local NBC affiliate
