LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Christmas cheer has arrived at Golisano Children’s at UK as the annual toy drive hosted by UK Police came to an end Thursday.
The eighth annual “Cram the Cruiser” event brought thousands of toys into the hospital in what organizers called a “parade of toys.”
“It’s amazing to see the car loads and car loads of toys that are coming in,” said Christina Briggs with Golisano Children’s at UK.
Police chief grows beard for ‘Chief Santa’ role
For weeks, UK Police Chief Joe Monroe, known as “Chief Santa” this time of year, worked to collect toys for children at the hospital.
“Every day for 8 months when I’m looking in the mirror, I know what the principal is behind growing that beard,” Monroe said.
