Frankie Boyle's novel Meantime is set to be transformed into a television drama for Sky .

The comedian's 2022 crime book is reportedly receiving a substantial budget adaptation from the broadcaster, with a "likely" major star being lined up for the leading role of addict Felix McAveety.

An insider revealed to The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "This has been talked about within the TV industry for months as one of the most interesting projects Sky have approached.

"It very much ties in with them wanting to tell gritty stories penned by a broad range of creators, which is what we've just seen with The Death Of Bunny Munro, written by musician-turned-writer Nick Cave.

"As with that show, which had Matt Smith in the lead, Meantime is likely to have a big-name star fronting it
