Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy suggested to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt that President Donald Trump could be "jeopardizing a Nobel Peace Prize" by escalating military action with Venezuela.
During Thursday's White House briefing, Doocy asked Leavitt to explain Trump's conflict with Venezuela after the Department of Justice seized one of the country's oil tankers.
"Is Operation Southern Spear about drugs or is it about oil?" Doocy wondered.
Leavitt insisted Trump was "focused on doing many things in the Western Hemisphere."
"If President Trump launches a bigger military campaign in the Caribbean, is he jeopardizing a possible Nobel Peace Prize?" Doocy pressed.
"Look, the president has proven over the past year that he is more than worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize," the press secretary replied. "I think he's been nominated for it nearly 100 times this past year, which is definitely a record. He's solved, I think, nine conflicts around the world we are up to now."
