FLINT – An offensive outpour placed the Flint Firebirds back in the win column on Wednesday night as Nathan Aspinall tallied his first career hat trick in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Firebirds held a 3-1 lead against the Guelph Storm heading into the second period before scoring six unanswered goals to end the matchup, winning 9-1 at the Dort Financial Center.

Goals from Aspinall, Darels Uljanskis and Jimmy Lombardi helped the Firebirds jump out to a 3-0 lead before the scoring onslaught took place.

Aspinall and Dryden Allen found the back of the net twice, while Christopher Thibodeau and Xavier Tessier each added a goal.

Mason Vaccari earned the win in net by stopping 27 of the 28 shots he faced, and he even picked up an assist.
