Star Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher T.J. Watt has been taken to the hospital for an unspecified lung ailment, the team confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, Watt, 31, began suffering discomfort at the team's practice facility on Wednesday, knocking him out of Thursday's practice and putting his status for Monday's game against the Miami Dolphins into question.
"Watt is currently in a local hospital for further medical evaluation after experiencing discomfort at the facility on Wednesday," Steelers Communications Director Burt Lauten said.
The good vibes from Pittsburgh's win over the Baltimore Ravens to put them atop the AFC North have now evaporated as the team waits on Watt's diagnosis.
On the season, the 2021 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, seven-time Pro Bowler, and six-time All-Pro has tallied 53 total tackles with seven sacks.
The Steelers face the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, though Watt's status for that game is to be determined.
Lauten said that Coach Mike Tomlin will "provide more updates on Watt at the appropriate time."
