Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has issued an urgent warning over a common household item. A spokesperson has took to the official facebook account to urge people to check if their tumble dryer is a potential fire hazard.

The warning comes after the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service received information from the Office for Product and Safety Standards over certain brands of heat pump tumble dryers. The full message said: "URGENT SAFETY MESSAGE: Check your tumble dryer.

"We have received info from the Office for Product and Safety Standards that certain brands of heat pump tumble dryers need an urgent safety repair because of fire risk- you should check your model number and serial num
