Alberta Health Services violated provincial law for two consecutive years, failing to publish its business plan as required, according to a report from the province’s auditor general that was released Thursday.

The Fiscal Planning and Transparency Act requires all provincial organizations to publish annual business plans for the upcoming year.

But AHS disobeyed the law “by not publishing its business plan for the 2023 fiscal year, and the business plan for 2024 was published 300 days into the fiscal year,” wrote auditor general Doug Wylie in his report .

The report, one of eight released Thursday morning after the end of the legislative session, was also critical of other aspects of AHS reporting.
