Forward Timo Meier is taking a temporary leave from the Devils , the team announced Thursday morning.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the team cited “a family matter” as the reason for Meier’s absence. No time frame for return was provided.

“The entire organization supports Timo and his family and appreciates everyone respecting their privacy at this time,” the statement read.
Meier, 29, has 11 goals and 23 points in 30 games this season. He is the team’s leading goal scorer and ranks third on the team in points. Meier has also stepped up in a huge way in the absence of superstar center Jack Hughes, logging six goals and three assists since he left the lineup.
