Charleston Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on the 300 block of Ashley Avenue just before 7 p.m. Dec. 10.

Detectives believe the 17-year-old victim knew the person who fired the fatal shot, and that it was not a random act, according to a news release. Officers are pursuing leads and part of their investigation involved the execution of a search warrant on Race Street, according to the release.

The Charleston County coroner identified the victim as Luis Garcia-Galvez on the afternoon of Dec. 11.
