Civil works for the beautification of the internal lanes of Kala Ghoda are nearing completion, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said on Thursday. During a site review, Gagrani also directed that all eateries and restaurants in the area adopt uniform signboards.

Aiming to restore the old-city charm of Kala Ghoda — one of Mumbai ’s most significant art precincts — the BMC had earlier this year drawn up plans to beautify and make the locality “pedestrian-friendly” by laying cobblestones along internal lanes. Once the project is completed, the corporation plans to permanently pedestrianise these streets.
