The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has confirmed that it is actively investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Batesburg-Leesville on Wednesday, December 10.
The incident occurred in the 100 block of West Church Street at approximately 12 p.m., when officers with the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle suspected of involvement in criminal activity at multiple businesses in Lexington County.
According to authorities the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee during the stop, striking one officer with the car, and almost hitting another. One of the officers fired shots at the vehicle's occupants, striking both of them.
