ORANGE, Ohio -- “Rain, snow or shine, the event will go on!”
Village officials and members of its Arts and Culture Committee were tested to uphold that bold promise, posted on the village’s website.
But they pulled it off when the first Light Up Orange for the Holidays event was held Wednesday (Dec. 10) at Village Hall.
The original plan was to start the event with performances by local musical groups at the Kathy Urdang Mulcahy Pavilion in the Community Park behind Village Hall.
It would then culminate with a tree-lighting ceremony in the gazebo just outside Village Hall.
But a steady rain in the afternoon eventually turned to snow, which became heavy at times in the early evening.
So the majority of the event was moved indoors, mostly in council chambers.
