Camillus, NY - West Genesee residents narrowly turned down a $78 million proposal that would have built a new transportation center, along with other improvements involving a former golf course the district bought two years ago.

The capital improvement project referendum failed by 37 votes. The vote was 804 against to 768 in favor after Tuesday’s vote.

The proposed project would have directed most of the money to construct a new transportation center on the site of the former Westvale Golf Course, a 117-acre property the district purchased for $4 million in December 2023.
