You won’t find traditional pulled pork, brisket or sauce-slathered chicken at AJWA BBQ & Restaurant in Derry Township.

The restaurant, which opens Friday at 597 E. Main St. at the Park Village Plaza, specializes in its own form of barbecue, made with halal meats prepared in a tandoor clay-oven.

The Pakistani-Indian restaurant slides into the former Bollywood Indian Fusion space with signature “barbecue” specialities, curries, vegetarian dishes, sides, gyros, naan and Pakistani desserts.

Anyone interested in checking out the food can stop by from 3-5 p.m. Dec. 12 for a free buffet during a grand opening. After 5 p.m. food will be 50% off.

Partners Ahsan Chaudhary, Khalil Haider and Imtiaz Gujar teamed up to open AJWA. They also operate Lahori Kabab restaurants at 3830 Union Deposit Road
