Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced an investment 18 million that will go toward the Engaging Neighborhoods, Organizations, Unions, Governments, and Households initiative which was started by the governor’s office for children in 2024. The initiative is intended to tackle the root causes of poverty in Maryland by addressing inequities and working with impacted communities to develop local solutions.
According to the governor the initiative has helped projects across the state: “Communities that span from Western Maryland to the Eastern Shore and everywhere in between because we understand that concentrated and oftentimes generational poverty does not have a Zip code attached to it… it does not have a demographic attached to it.”
