After reportedly losing Edwin Diaz to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Mets knew work had to be done to add quality to their bullpen.

The next-best target was former San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez , but on Thursday he reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Atlanta Braves worth $45 million. This puts the Mets in a tough spot as the reliever market slowly thins out, and as of Thursday afternoon they hadn’t added anyone besides Devin Williams.

Missing out on Suarez (and Diaz) should be concerning for Mets fans, but this latest report from insider Jon Heyman should be even more concerning for them.
