EDGINGTON, Ill. (KWQC) - A collapsing table in Rockridge High School, sounded enough like gunshots to prompt a school lockdown Thursday.
Deputies said a member of school staff had called 911 and within minutes, the school went into lockdown, according to a media release from the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office. .
Deputies said they got a report of possible gunshots at Rockridge High School at 12:50 p.m.
The school resource officer quickly determined there wasn’t an active shooter, deputies said.
Officials confirmed the noise was the table collapsing, hitting the floor and echoing through the hall.
