Steelers outside linebacker Alex Highsmith has been in touch with T.J. Watt since he was hospitalized Wednesday with a lung condition, and he said Watt is on the road to recovery.
“I think he’s doing all right,” Highsmith said Thursday following practice. “We’ve been checking on him. He’s doing all right, and he’s getting better.”
Watt was at the team facility Wednesday, a scheduled off day for players, when he reported discomfort in his lungs. The Steelers released a statement before practice that said his status for the Monday night game against the Dolphins is in question.
ESPN reported Watt experienced the discomfort after he received treatment, but when coach Mike Tomlin spoke with reporters after Thursday’s practice he did not provide any details on how the injury occurred.
