The Saint Mary's High School football team is headed to southern California for a shot at a state title.

The team from Stockton pushed off from its parking lot early Thursday morning with a supportive school community turning out to wish them goodbye and good luck.

The Rams are going head-to-head with the Eagles of Bakersfield Christian High School.

“We’ve worked hard for this moment all season long,” said the team’s defensive back Joseph Martin. “We just believe in one another, trust one another, and just play very well.”

The football program is vying for the CIF Division 2AA state championship title in the team's first appearance in the final game since 2016.
