EMERADO, N.D. – The Emerado City Council will likely hear recommendations for communication between the city’s mayor and city auditor in January, after those recommendations were previously anticipated for the Dec. 8 meeting.
A mediation board was supposed to submit its recommendations for addressing a conflict between Mayor Jake Lanes and City Auditor and Clerk of Court Janelle Klava to the City Council on Dec. 8; however, Klava said those recommendations were not ready in time for the meeting.
She anticipates the recommendations will be ready in time for the council’s next meeting on Jan. 5.
The mediation board initially met on Dec. 1 to discuss a complaint filed by Klava against Lanes. The complaint addresses an argument between them that took place in September, where Klava allege
