NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Authorities are processing and evaluating evidence after the car belonging to a man last seen nearly 22 years ago was found yesterday.

Nash County deputies say Travis Lynch was last seen early on Christmas Eve 2003. They say the man had left his girlfriend’s home in the Middlesex area but never made it home to Wilson.

Wednesday afternoon, a citizen contacted authorities about a vehicle submerged in the water near Old Middlesex Road and Turkey Creek.

Deputies say they recovered Lynch’s 1992 Pontiac Grand AM.

They have yet to say if there were any human remains found in the car.
