COUSHATTA, La. – Another week and another earthquake near Coushatta.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey , a magnitude 2.7 earthquake was reported just after 10 a.m. Thursday almost 5 miles east of Coushatta.
It was measured at a depth of 3 miles.
That’s the same strength and depth as one reported on Dec. 4. It, too, was a magnitude 2.7 and just over 3 miles deep, and was reported 1.2 miles north, northwest of Coushatta.
The minor earthquakes have been happening periodically in that general area for more than a year.
