KINGSTON, N.Y. — Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha, the main proponent of a government takeover of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp., has forcefully criticized a summary from opponents that put the cost of a public buyout much higher than what proponents have estimated in their own report.

The supporters-funded study said the cost would be $3.5 billion. The opponents’ review said the purchase cost would be $7 billion.

Shrestha, D-Esopus, who represents the 103rd Assembly District, blasted the report by Concentric Energy Advisors that was shared by Central Hudson-backer Protect Our Power Coalition on Wednesday.
