NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The city held its annual Arbor Day celebration at Living History Park, planting a tree to commemorate the day.
This year’s city tree is a Dura-Heat River Birch tree with a plaque at its base honoring Lynn Thompson, the city’s late director, who passed.
Zipline project in Augusta stalled due to federal permit process
In 2023, commissioners approved a zip-lining course as part of the center to be added to Fifth Street bridge.
Attendees received free trees to help restore the city’s canopy. Mayor Briton Williams said the city has planted 134 trees throughout North Augusta this year and will continue planting in special places, like Living History Park.
Many of the past years’ trees can be seen along North Augusta’s Greeneway.
