LANSING – The Lansing School District made a change to its athletics code of conduct this week, limiting attendance by high school students to athletic contests to Lansing students or those from the opposing school.
Students in grades 9-12 must have their ID at all home athletics events. Younger students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Lansing School District spokesperson Ryan Gilding confirmed the change to the State Journal on Dec. 11.
"We have had minor incidents of people from outside the district coming to sporting events and not respecting our code of conduct," Gilding said in a text message. "We thought it best to get a handle on this as soon as possible."
He said the decision was made at the administrative level and did not require board approval.
