PEORIA, Ill. – A 17-year-old male has been arrested for murder in connection to a fatal shooting in Central Peoria in October.

Peoria Police says the teenager was developed as a suspect in the death of 20-year-old Elisha Gilbert on October 26th.

Gilbert was the driver of a vehicle in the area of Isabell and Merle when he was shot in the chest, with an autopsy revealing he likely died instantly. An 18-year-old female passenger was also injured in the shooting.

Police say the 17-year-old suspect was spotted Thursday in the area of Maywood and Indiana Avenues, and taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

The teenager was arrested on charges that include First Degree Murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated robbery, and resisting police, as well as four active warrants.
