Emi Martinez and Pau Torres were absent from Aston Villa’s squad to face FC Basel.

Both players are nursing injuries and were therefore unavailable for selection.

Martinez did not feature in Villa’s 4-3 win over Brighton last Wednesday after suffering a back problem during the warm-up, but returned to face Arsenal.

Emery revealed after Villa's win in Basel that the same back problem was the reason for his absence in Switzerland.

Torres, meanwhile, was forced off late in Villa’s dramatic victory over Arsenal in B6.

"Both they are injured," Emery said. "Now we have Konsa and Lindelof both centre-backs and Lamare Bogarde can play there. His versatility is fantastic. We will need players to feel comfortable, when we have players injured like at left centre-back."
