STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police responding to a report of shots fired arrested a 50-year-old man in New Springville, according to sources.

Jesus Ramirez, 50, of Merrymount Street, was found on Nov. 5 at about 7:25 p.m. with a gun in the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt on Richmond Avenue between Nome Avenue and Richmond Hill Road, according to the criminal complaint.

The revolver had a .38-caliber shell casing inside the cylinder, while a .45-caliber bullet was also found in the pocket of the defendant’s hoodie, the complaint alleges.

Officers had been called to the area for a report of shots fired, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

The complaint alleges that Ramirez made incriminating statements to police, including that he fired the gun.
