COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Columbus water customers will see their bills increase by 4.9% beginning January 1, 2026, as the city works to fund major infrastructure projects including a new wastewater treatment facility.
The rate increase will add seven to nine dollars per month to customer bills, depending on water usage, according to Columbus Water Works officials.
Jeremy Cummings, president and CEO of Columbus Water Works, said the funds will help build a new wastewater facility to replace the current one built in the 1960s. The total project is projected to cost between $500 million and $700 million.

“The total project we are projecting to be somewhere around 500 to 700 million dollars,” Cummings said.
