One of Michigan State’s young safeties will enter the transfer portal.
Justin Denson Jr., a sophomore safety, plans to enter the transfer portal, he announced Wednesday. He played 45 snaps for the Spartans across the first three games of the season and recorded two tackles, but he did not dress for the final six games of the season that included a stint away from the team. He will have three years of eligibility remaining, considering this season as his redshirt.
Denson was a three-star recruit who featured prominently in the Spartans’ banged-up secondary as a freshman in 2024, recording 13 tackles on 159 snaps at safety. In the season finale against Rutgers, he played 50 snaps and made three tackles, one off his career high set against Oregon earlier that year.
