COVINGTON, Ky. —

Boone County is gearing up for a winter storm by pre-treating roads and preparing emergency shelters, with residents urged to move their cars off the streets to facilitate snow plowing.

"It's going to get colder, the winds are going to kick up and make it really untenable to be outside," said Kevin Vogelpohl, Boone County Emergency Management Director. Advertisement

Boone County is readying for the snow with all 40 salt trucks prepared to roll out. Boone County Engineer Robert Franxman said, "We've got all our trucks loaded and prepped with plows and salt boxes and everything like that at the moment."

Franxman emphasized the importance of removing snow quickly, saying, "When it is snowing actively to start with, to get it done and get out of there as soon as possible
