ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - KJ Simmons, a sophomore guard for the Bolton Bears, has been named this week’s ACA Athlete of the Week after an impressive start to the basketball season.

Simmons dropped 37 points during the opening game of the season and is averaging 20 points per game so far this year.

“It’s really a team victory and a team performance,” Simmons said. “Even if not, you’ll have 20 points a game. It could be rebounds, it could be assists, you’re not going to have the best game every night. So, just showing up.”

Bolton Coach Mike Jonker said the team can count on Simmons’ consistent production.

“Definitely nice to have that to fall back on. We have a couple of guys that can do that, but KJ, we can rely on him to get 15, 20 points a night and know that he can get our offense go
