WAUKEE, Iowa —

Dr. Brad Buck, the superintendent of Waukee Schools, announced that this school year will be his last. He plans to retire from public education on June 30, 2026.

On July 1, 2026, he will take on a new role as the Executive Director of the School Administrators of Iowa.

Buck served as the director of the Iowa Department of Education and the superintendent of the Cedar Rapids Community School District before joining the Waukee Community School District in 2019.

He led the district through the COVID-19 pandemic and opened the district's second high school.
