The shift follows President Trump’s executive order requiring athletes to compete based on sex assigned at birth, while California law requires eligibility based on gender identity. When the NIAA adopted sex-at-birth eligibility, TTUSD fell out of compliance with state law, prompting a formal complaint and the mandate to switch leagues.
