Nate Woody was on the defensive coaching staff at the University of Michigan in 2019 when he had to miss an Army-Navy game on TV because the Wolverines had a practice ahead of the Citrus Bowl game.

"I grew up watching the Army-Navy game since I was a little kid,'' Woody, 64, said. "I didn't get to watch the (2019) ballgame because of that practice, and I remember just the empty feeling because that was the first time in an awful long time that I'd missed that ballgame.''

Woody has a much better seat these days, on the Army sidelines since 2020 as the Black Knights ' defensive coordinator. He'll be coaching in his sixth Army-Navy game on Saturday in Baltimore.
