NEW RUSSIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) -The New Russia Township Zoning Commission has delayed its vote on a controversial rezoning proposal after more than 300 residents packed a meeting to oppose converting 622 acres from agricultural and residential land to industrial use.

The community voiced strong opposition to the proposal, which would affect land near the Lorain Airport bordered by Levitt, Russia, and Oberlin Roads. Liberty Development is requesting the zoning change, though unconfirmed rumors suggest a data center could occupy the site.
