Garo Hills conservationist lauded for transforming primate protection through community-led stewardship
: Meghalaya’s celebrated conservationist Betsida C.H. Marak was conferred the Green Guru Award at the 13th Balipara Foundation Awards, recognising her pioneering role in safeguarding the western hoolock gibbon and promoting community-driven ecological stewardship in the Garo Hills.
The 13th Balipara Foundation Awards ceremony was held on December 11 at Guwahati, celebrating exemplary contributions to wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship across Northeast India.
