Several labourers from Assam are feared dead in the accident wherein a truck reportedly carrying 22 laborers fell into a gorge near the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday called the incident "very unfortunate" and stated that Assam Minister Bimal Bora is at the spot.
Nang Chingni Choupoo, DDMO (in charge) for Anjaw district, told ANI yesterday that the incident took place on the night of 8th December. However, the authorities, DDMO said, received the report on the night of 10th December.
“Even the locals were not aware that an incident had occurred there. It is steep and narrow there,” the DDMO added.
