CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A hearing will be held Friday afternoon for the two Canton police officers charged in the April 2024 death of Frank Tyson while in police custody.

Earlier this week, the visiting judge presiding over the court process gave permission for a special prosecutor to handle the case. On Friday, we should find out who that will be.

The Stark County Prosecutor requested the special prosecutor, because “incidents of hostility by police towards prosecutors in Stark County.”

Officers Beau Schoenegge and Camden Burch were indicted on the charge of reckless homicide.

According to the Stark County prosecutor, Tyson, 53, ran into a nearby AMVETS club in the 1700 block of Sherrick Rd. SE and asked someone to call the Sheriff.
