A Cecil County woman has been charged in connection with the death of her five-week-old infant, according to the Maryland State Police.

Authorities say 24-year-old Destiny Chiveral faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and child abuse.

First responders were called to Leedle Circle in Rising Sun after 9 a.m. on Dec. 4, where EMS pronounced the five-week-old infant dead.

Maryland State Police began a death investigation, which was later taken over by the Homicide Unit.

Investigators executed search warrants on Chiveral’s phone, person, and two residences and found evidence that provided “probable cause” for the murder and child abuse charges, according to authorities.
