A Los Angeles couple turned their grief into a public outpouring of love as they wheeled their terminally ill dog, Gracie, along her favorite stretch of Sunset Boulevard for what they called her “best last day ever.”

“Gracie is a mixed breed pittie and she was 11 years old,” Kathleen Ives, 34, told Newsweek . “Michael first fostered Gracie in 2020 and quickly became a ‘foster fail’ because she was simply too special to let go.

“She’s been his devoted companion ever since. I joined their lives about a year and a half ago and instantly fell in love with them both. Gracie became our little family.”

The close bond made it all the more difficult when one day, Gracie collapsed without warning.
