Taking into account Maharashtra ’s 720 km coastline, the ongoing development of Jawaharlal Nehru Port, and other maritime opportunities, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that the largest shipyard in India be established in Maharashtra by 2026.
The Chief Minister reviewed the ports development department in a meeting held at the Council of Ministers’ hall in the Vidhan Bhavan today. Fisheries and Ports Development Minister Nitesh Rane was also present. Fadnavis instructed that a detailed project report (DPR) be prepared for the shipyard and that land for the project be finalized.
He also emphasised the development of Jaigad, Revdanda, and Vijaydurg ports and urged the early completion of the Vaibhavwadi–Kolhapur railway line to facilitate port growth. The state government
