A nurse has been wounded after being attacked with a broken mug by a patient at Wythenshawe Hospital , the Manchester Evening News understands. Police attended the major hospital at around 1.30am yesterday morning (December 11).

It's understood that a male nurse, aged in his 50s, was left needing treatment following the attack. The victim's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing and he has since been released from hospital, Greater Manchester Police says.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault (grievous bodily harm). The M.E.N. understands the suspect had been receiving treatment in Wythenshawe Hospital at the time of the attack, and he remains in hospital.
