PALMER LAKE, Colo. (KKTV) - Leaders in Palmer Lake voted Thursday night for more clarity on the path forward regarding the next steps for a potential Buc-ee’s annexation.
In a vote of five to two, the Board of Trustees voted in favor of getting a declaratory judgement on the ordinance that requires public vote over annexations.
A court will now look over the ordinance to clarify whether a public vote for an annexation comes before or after the town council votes on it.
Voters passed an ordinance in September that requires any new annexation into town to undergo a public vote, and the ordinance could even apply retroactively to annexations approved within the past year but not finalized, including the contested Buc-ee’s site.
