Nigel Farage ’s Reform UK has won its first by-election in Scotland after taking a seat on West Lothian Council.
David McLennan was elected in the Whitburn and Blackburn ward after securing 1,177 first-preference votes .

The SNP finished second with 1,028 first-preference votes, followed by Scottish Labour on 627.
Independent candidate Thomas Lynch secured 484 votes, while the Scottish Conservatives were on 129. The Scottish Liberal Democrats polled 102, the Scottish Greens 101, and independent Eddie Millar 27.
The result means Reform UK now has 21 councillors across Scotland.
