BUFFALO, N.Y. — Lake effect snow is expected to develop over the Buffalo metro late Friday night into early Saturday morning.
A burst of snow is likely, 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected. Then lake snow should shift south and stay mainly east of the lake into Saturday night, heavy snow at times. Then lake snows east and southeast of the lake during Sunday.

A Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect for southern Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties from 7am Saturday morning until 7am Monday morning. 4 to 7 inches of snow likely, with 8 to 12 inches possible under the heaviest snow bands over the higher terrain mainly, east of Lake Erie. A few inches possible very early Saturday morning for areas north including Buffalo.
